This week, the Strawberry Plants took a field trip to the Museum of Modern Art. Our art educator gave us a tour of the gallery where we saw interesting vehicles and paintings. As we observed the different colors and shapes in the paintings, Strawberries created their own collages using Wikki Stix, Sticky Paper, and various textured shapes. Last, the Strawberry Plants used a Polaroid camera to capture a favorite piece of artwork, take a photo of their classmates, or take a photo of their own face. Students were eager to see their photos pop out of the camera and waited patiently for the photo to magically appear! Today was Gillen Brewer's Thanksgiving Feast. Strawberry Plants invited families into the classroom to share a delicious feast and celebrate all the things we are thankful for. Check out the video below to see what the Strawberry Plants are thankful for! Our Feast
What Are You Thankful For?
Today we celebrated Grandparents' Day at Gillen Brewer. It was a fantastic way for the Strawberry Plants to finish off /f/ week - spending time with family doing one of our favorite activities- beading! We also posed for pictures in our firetruck photo booth, which we created for Fire Safety Month. This year, Gillen Brewer's theme is plants. Before we could pick a class name, we began our research through hands-on exploration of plants - digging into soil, taking plants apart to label the various parts, and discovering seeds inside different fruits. Our class visited an apple farm to pick fresh fruit and a class pumpkin. Then, we were ready to vote on a class name. Students narrowed down the decision to: strawberry plants, kale, and pumpkins. While the vote was not unanimous, students were flexible and everyone celebrated our new class name The Strawberry Plants! |
